SuperCal SO4 and Micronutrients on Soybeans

Cedar Falls, Iowa in 2004

Soybean responses to 16 treatments with gypsum, boron, copper, and zinc as single materials or in combinations were evaluated at Cedar Falls, Iowa in 2004.

Four replications of the treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with plots six-row wide 15 ft x 30 ft long

The center two plots were harvested with a plot combine with an electronic scale. The 2004 growing season was excellent with little stress and good crop yield.

Micronutrient and gypsum treatments gave slight increases in soybean yields over untreated control at 44.4 bu/a.

Gypsum at 400 lbs/a was helpful to increase yields 2.2 bu/a to 46.6 bu/a.3.

Then gypsum plus one more of the micronutrients generally increased the yield to around 48 to 49 bu/a for roughly 5-bu/a yield increase.

It is interesting in this season that the elements alone tended to give a 3.0 to 5.1-bu/a yield increase.
