Plant Manager – Fort Dodge Operations

Position Details

We are in search of a “hands-on” plant manager who has strong mechanical aptitude and management experience in continuous flow operations. This position is responsible for approximately 20 employees who operate the plant and load customer trucks with our gypsum and limestone products in Fort Dodge. We are particularly interested in someone who understands the importance of leading by example and a well-executed preventative maintenance plan. It is expected that the plant manager will learn and be proficient in each plant position to drive the best decision making and employee engagement. We run a 2 x 12-hour shift operation with goals in safety, quality, and production.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Ensure safety processes and procedures are followed by all
  • Work with our safety manager and entire team to continuously improve safety within the operations
  • Confirm products meet quality requirements through execution of quality procedures and regular quality checks/measures
  • Guide team in troubleshooting to ensure daily production goals are met or exceeded
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all areas of the operation including parts, tools, offices, etc.
  • Provide daily management to lead persons, production workers, and customer service representatives
  • Deliver regular constructive feedback, comprehensive training, effective communication, and recognition for achievement
  • Be visible, responsive, and available in the operations each day and sometimes in the evening to support the night shift
  • Assist in hiring and developing a safe, engaged, and improvement-focused workforce
  • Participate in setting yearly budgets and ensure they are met
  • Execute preventative maintenance to improve plant uptime and efficiency including tracking all failures/repairs to optimize plans for continuous improvement
  • Implement process controls and mistake proofing wherever possible to support all operators in successfully running and maintaining the plants
  • Ensure well written and well understood SOPs are in place for all key plant processes
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the President and CEO

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required, 2-year associates degree or higher preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams in an operating environment
  • Should have the ability to build trust and respect without relying solely on authority
  • Good communication skills
  • Familiar with continuous flow plant operations and technologies
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel
